CanSkate is Skate Canada’s flagship “Learn to Skate” program, intended for children aged 4 to 12. In a fun and interactive environment with Skate Canada professionally trained and certified coaches, CanSkate teaches the fundamentals of skating to help build a foundation for all skating. CanSkate is the first step for skaters planning to advance to any of the Whistler Skating Club programs (including Hockey Skating Development). Skaters are grouped by age and skill, beginning in Stage 1 progressing to Stage 6. Awards and incentives are earned as skaters progress.

The Whistler Skating Club offers three sessions of CanSkate throughout the season. In addition to course fees, all skaters must pay a $40 annual Skate Canada membership fee (membership year is September 1 to August 31). All skating takes place at Meadow Park Sport Centre.
